I have a 2000 Alumcraft Lunker 16 tiller with a 12v 40# MinnKota 48″ shaft bow mount. I’d like to go to a 24v motor with more thrust and a iPilot. I can get a 80# Terrova with a 45″ shaft for a good price. I’m concerned that the 45″ shaft will be too short. I haven’t had a problem with the 48″ shaft, and I don’t go out in 3 footers. Am I going to have problems with the 45″ shaft?

I would stay with 48″ – you will be happier in the long run. You will also have to re-wire for 24v on the boat.

if the 12v gets you where you want to go ..at the speed you want to..for as long as you want stay with it re-wiring, buying another battery is more b.s. than you know ..if you need it..do it.. if you simply want it spend your $ on some new raps

I have a #55, 48 in shaft, 12 volt Minn Kota Power Drive 2 for sale. It is less than one year old, very few hours and has a quick release plate for it. It is compatable with the i-pilot. Works great. I had somebody switch me for a Terrova for my old cable steer motor because he didn’t like the digital foot control.I put this on my boat so I have the V2 for sale.

I just went from a 48″ to a 60″ shaft. I like that fact that if I am catching fish and the wind/waves pick up I can just drop it down further and keep fishing.
