My buddy has a Jiffy 3hp auger He was told it was 6-7 years old, but it may be a bit older but my question is this. We do not seem to be able to get the low idle and high idle set at the same time. Either the low is good and the high is poor or visa versa. The high never seems to be to great. It sounds like it is carbed up with every so often hitting the right speed and sound. He put a new plug in it right away and ran some carb cleaner though it as well. Also how would a person know if there clutch is slipping or if its the motor not running great?

Last question with our limited motor skills. Does anyone know a person in the Winona area who can work on the Jiffys without being taken to the cleaners?

    Thanks

    Hi Haywood,

I have the same auger about the same age. After replacing the diaphram, my idle works great. It sounded like it just ran out of gas after a couple minutes. At WOT it seldom sounds like it’s “hitting on all eight” so to speak. Actually it’s running on the rich side. Because it’s cutting holes just fine, I’ve never tried adjusting the top end mixture. So I guess I can’t help you out on any of your questions.
