Just purchased a hook removal kit to store in the boat (after reflecting on a painful experience last summer ). I also always keep stocked up on after bite or similar ammonia product after being stung/bit by something on the ankle a few years ago that resulted in a late night trip the ER. The doctor said application of it could have prevented the severity/swelling. What are some of the other basics that I should stock in my boat’s first aid kit that I might be forgetting to avoid any more “shoulda hads..”?

Sounds like you may want to add a couple vicodin for the pain….

    Medical tape and gauze!
    Antibiotic ointment
    IB Profin

A big bandage may not look pretty but it can keep a lot of infections out.

I have experience Too many times.

Tweezers are a must for slivers and tick removal. Ew.

Just curious…what does one of those cost and what is it?

You can do the same effect with a couple feet of fireline(or similar superline) and a pair of needle nose pliers. Wrap the line around the pliers a few times and “start the lawnmower” I’ve had to do it once on my dad… it’s definatly a 2 person job. I would not advise trying it on your own

Super glue. It may not be pretty but it has a thousand uses.

I completely agree, my wife bought it for me as a stocking stuffer so I carry it in the boat

That’s the one I bought too. I haven’t opened it to see its contents yet, but “Instructions for same method taught in hospital emergency rooms” is what sold me. I’m sure the rest is pretty easily duplicated by other tools (like the fireline).
