Do any of you use a screen protector on the display(s) in your boat? I’ve got one on my touchscreen cell phone, for example, and it seems to not only protect the screen but also cut down on glare and fingerprint smudges. I was thinking about getting one for my 1197. Any thoughts or recommendations?

I would be nice to have a screen protector that would allow you see the screen with polorized glasses on.
You can proably take static sticker film and cut to size.

I tried one and did not like the extra glare I got off of it. Although, it may have just been the one I used. Maybe there are better ones out there but I’m skeptical. It would be nice though, especially on these high dollar units.

    Zagg Invisible shield.

Spendy but about as tough and scratch resistent as you’ll find. It’s not like the standard protectors that will lift at the corners and show scratches after a few days. I’ve been impressed with it on our Nuvi’s and can say that it’s the only protector I will use on my new graphs.

Just put one of these on a 798. You can’t tell it is there at all (no bubbles, etc.). There seems to be glare (which I was hoping it prevented) but I can’t tell if it made it worse, better, or neutral as I don’t have one to compare it to. With the unit on, at least so far, glare is not a problem (although the sun isn’t too bright in my garage

I ended up getting Screen Patronis brand screen protectors off of Ebay. They were pretty reasonable in price. I’ve had the boat out once since installing them and didn’t notice any extra glare — they may have actually cut down on the glare. I can tell you that you’d never notice that they’re on there if you didn’t know to look. I’m glad I installed them so far. I sort of wish I had waited to install the second one so I could compare the two screens, but like I said they seem just great so far.
