I am looking for a good low speed reel to use for crankbait fishing. I have 5 of the REVO STX’s and I love em but they only go as low as a 6.4:1 gear ratio. I see that abu garcia makes a REVO WINCH which is a 5:1 slower ratio.

I know that alot others like the shimano curado reels also but I’ve never owned one.

One of the biggest things that I like about the STX is that it casts a mile and more plus it is extremely smooth with 10+ bearings.

Another one i was looking @ was the Quantum Energy PT 5:1. I have a tour edition PT with the blue coating from before they changed it and it is a 7:1 and i really like that reel too.
    Any input would be appreciated.

I’d stick with the Revo or curado. I’ve never had much luck with the Quantum reels. I know some people really like them but I’ve had 2 of them and they both crapped out in a vary short time.

how does the curado do for casting distance? I’m thinking that i know someone who might have some that i can try before i buy so i’ll probably go that route.

Google search Tackle Tour low speed shootout for reveiws on Revo Winch,Curado E5,Energy PT & Zillion CC. Abu used to make a couple power house 3.8:1 reels but it seemed at that time everyone was looking for high speed ratio burners. I beleive you cant go wrong with the abu or shimano for a low speed crankin reel. Good luck.

I forgot about tackle tour but yeah those reviews really help get an unbiased opinion. Thanks for sending me that way..
