I am re-storing a crestliner boat and to control your every day electonics I plan to put this switch panel in: Blue Sea Systems Panel

The panel comes pre wired (between switches) allowing the user to merely hook up a positive and negative wire before moving to your lights, pumps etc.

I really like the idea of running one wire from my battery, to the panel and wiring my electonics to the panel itself, however… The panel does not have a common ground, so it does not allow me to take the positive and negative wires from each light, pump, radio etc and run them directly to the panel. I am only able to run the positive wires from the panel, to the electronics and am forced to ground them individually.

    My question is:

Is there such a gizmo similar to a fuze block that I am able to gound my pumps, lights, electronics etc to? Or would it be my best bet to just run a zillion ground wires back to my battery?

    Thanks in advance

Just install a terminal strip for the ground wires next to the fuse block, run your ground from the battery to it and all your grounds from electronics to it…nice and neat.

One thing I had to do was run a seperate ground for my radio and marine band as something in the boat made them buzz and drove me nuts! My girlfriend is a electric engineer/tech and explained why that happens in big words but the solution was running seperate grounds for certian items directly to the battery. Somethng to think about when rewiring if you pick up static as the common ground strip gave me a little trouble.

Thanks you guys, I appreciate the help. I think I’m gonna pick up a grounding strip just like that one mentioned.
