Looking to add a couple new trolling setups for walleye fishing. Any suggestions on a line counter reel and rod? Looking at staying under a hundred bucks a set. Have looked at Okuma Magda Pros are these any good?

will you be using the rods for boards or long lining them?

Prolly gonna try and replace one of each this spring, both a long line and a board set up. All of my boards are the full size off shore boards.

I’ve got a pair of Okuma Magda’s (15’s) on some 8’6″ Ugly Stiks going on their 7th year with no issues.

I run the Okumas also both on long lines and leadcore. No issues yet, going on 5 years now.

8’6 is a nice length for a planer rod. make sure it has a soft tip tho. As for long lining i like a 7’6 medium or ml, depending on if you are using dd cranks or shallow ones.

i am sure there are many views about gear….but for me one thing is clear. On reels…..I use exclusively Daiwa Sea Lines…in either 17’s or 27’s depending on mono or lead core. These reels are dependable…and they read “true” on the count of feet out if they are spooled full. For rods….just look for one with backbone but has lots of give and bend for trolling. many will do….even simply ugly sticks work well. just my 2 cents.

I run all 8’6″ and up for rods got all 6 I use for under $100 at FFO. May be worth a trip north. I think most mine are Salmon/Steelhead rods except a couple Fenglass ones.
