Going from a 24v system to a 36v system?

Reading all the buzz on here and talking to Deano about the new ipilot I don’t think I can go without this new tool. I’m currently running a 24v trolling motor on my boat. I have a 3 bank changer (2 for the trolling motor batteries and 1 for the main battery). So, if I go with the new Terrova 101, will I need to change out the on board charger to a 4 bank or do I really need an on board for the main battery? The main battery powers my electronics, live wells and starts the motors (200hp Opti & 9.9 Merc 4-stroke). Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I would do the 4 bank charger. Used to have a 24V trolling motor set-up with only a 2 bank charger. Always had to hook up the second charger to ensure my cranking battery was optimum as some fishing trips I do very little running. Also the trickle charge is nice to keep the battery in top shape while in the garage. Now I have a 36V trolling system with another cranking battery and a 4 bank system. Just plug it in and forget it until I leave for the next trip. It’s awesome.

You could get a second 1 bank charger for the cranker and have the 3 deep cycles on the 3 banker. Adding the 1 banker would be far cheaper and less work in the end I would think.

Those of you that have switched from 24v to 36v, Did you have room or a spot for the 4th battery or did you improvise?
I have a Tyee, that has no room for a 4th battery, but would like to go to 36v!?

I went to a 36 volt on the bow, and I still have my 24 volt engine mount trolling motor. I added a single bank charger along with my original 3 bank charger. That was much less work than to pull the wires for a four bank charger. It works fine for me I just have a three way plug that I have both chargers on and use one cord for both. I have been using a co pilot for years and have never even hooked the pedal up, so I think for me the i pilot will be an easy transition. It will be a little different not having the control on my wrist, but I am sure it won’t take long to get used to it. If anyone is looking for I co pilot for a Terrova I know where they can get one for a good price.

I suspect Lund can tell you where the fourth battery goes, I looked into it on my boat, and they make a plate of some sort that holds a third battery under the deck in back. (though I don’t have a lund)
