Got a heck of a deal on a couple Fenwick Elite Tech 9′ Med MF rods. Thinking about rigging up with Daiwa Sealine SG17LC reels. Question is, what type of trolling should I be using them for. Rod states 3/8 to 3/4 oz lure

Don’t waste you’re money buying the SG17LC’s from Daiwa.
Get the 27’s instead. The 27’s are three times the reel as the 17’s.
These rods should work well for the larger shad raps, husky jerks, #18 rapala’s or similar lures.

Unless you are needing a lot of extra line, I would stick with Sealine 17’s. They work great and are a lot lighter than the 27’s. I’ve used them heavily for a few years and never had a problem.

Unless your trolling with 200 yd’s or more of line, all you need are the 17’s, there a great light weight reel

My .02ct go with the 27’s if ever plan on running leadcore. leadcore eats up alot of reel in a hurry!

I’m more concerned about the rods. Not sure what type of back bone they will have.
