I’m wondering why you guys use the braids you do. I mostly use Fuse line like Sufix performance fuse or Fireline when not using mono. I tried 10-2 Power pro last year for a little while. I didn’t love it or hate it but I like the Fused line better. I notice alot of you guys use the Power pro type. Just wondering why and what brands you like.

February 23, 2010 at 4:12 am #845110Under 20# Fireline. Over that Power Pro. Tried the lighter Power Pro last year and was dissappointed. Line would just break. Knots didnt work either. Maybe a bad batch seeing as how alot of others seem to like it.
February 23, 2010 at 4:42 am #845117I personally use all fireline. Mainly because of the line diameter. I know the package says they are very close to the same diameter BUT they arent. I do a lot of deep water trolling that line diameter is HUGE and fireline has been my best fit. I have used it for about 7 years and have had no major issues to speak of. That is fish it from Jan til november on all rods.

I’ve gone through probably 30+ spools of power pro and I did have one spool that was about as strong as sewing thread. Had it been the first spool I had purchased, it would have been the last, but I knew it wasn’t normal.
February 23, 2010 at 11:19 am #845138I like fireline for my jigging rods & spider wire stealth for trolling applications. Although I have also run power pro occasionally as well, I prefer the Stealth.
Fireline has the ability to lock down tight in one spot on a jig. That’s important when I want my jig to hang horizontally a few inches off the bottom. It doesn’t matter what kind of knot you tie with Power Pro or Spider wire, it will always slide forward on a jig eye, allowing the jig to hang at an angle whenever its off the bottom.
I have been using Fireline Crystal the last year or two and it performs very similar to the regular Fireline.
