Thinking of getting a setup for throwing crankbaits and was wondering what your guys opinions are on glass or composite rods?

Personally I love glass rods. I have been using them for a bunch of years now. I feel like I hook more fish and I lose less fish. It takes a little bit more practice pulling them through grass but its not a problem when you get used to it.

If you are ripping traps through grass I go with graphite. But for all my DT’s and other medium to deep cranks I throw my glass lamiglass rod.

The other option is a hybrid rod. I have the American Rodsmiths David Fritts H3 titanium rod, which is a graphite rod on the lower half and a glass rod for the top half. I have really liked that rod as well. I believe Fenwick makes a hybrid rod as well.

I have 3 glass rods i throw everything with. 1 lamiglas and 2 old team diawa rods. rattle traps, crankbaits, spinnerbaits buzzbaits topwater. all 7fters. The skeet reese lamiglas rod is really nice but pricey. can really throw everything with it. check ebay to save a few $$ on these. I like the glass rods, just seems right to me. I was on the trail nationally many years ago. fished with alot of big names. they all had glass rods for cranks.
sit down and think how much your gonna need a dedicated crankbait rod. any 6-6-7ft med action rod will work well.
then see how much you want to spend.
I actually added a 5-6 pistol grip this winter for small baits and close up work. really nice to throw! good luck!

Lamiglas makes a great CB Rod as does Kistler. I love the older Skeet Reese rods. They need to have the handles lengthened but this is an easy $15 fix and Thorne Bros..

I am trying the Kistler Rods this year.
