Anyone have any experience with this engine or something similar? I have heard a mixed response and am looking to see what the major issues have been? Thanks.

I ran this motor foe two year’s. biggest problem was the lower unit. I also had fouled a couple sets of plugs
this motor was a solid workhorse. I ran this motor hard fishing a bunch of tournaments. aol the reliability of this motor was good
except when the lower unit went out
    very fast motor as well

    Thanks Calvin

That seems to be common with people I’ve talked to.

i have a 03 225 ho. like the other guy said, their biggest problem is the lower units. other than that i have had a few simple things go out like the starter, but they are a solid machine. they have a lot power for a 225!

if you go to bassboatcentral.com and go to the evinrude forum, there are a couple of guys that will run your serial number and you can see what all has been done to it as far as repairs

If you are looking at purchasing this motor. PM me with model and serial number. I can pull up owner and warranty repair information for you.
