Have a new dominator on order and will be ordering a trolling motor for it from an independent source. for those of you that have an Alumacraft Dom or Nav, what is the shaft length that you use?

Looking at the minn kota foretrex but all I can find is a 60″ shaft which seems too long.

X2 when you are in waves and the motor comes out of the water your boat will be difficult to control.

    x5? Sure, why not…

I made the mistake of putting a 50 lb, 50″ Powerdrive on my 1650 Fishhawk. That was an expensive one.

$1k later, it was remedied with an 80 lb, 60″ Max Pro.

    Now its much better!

60″ is the correct shaft length for that boat.
Your dealer should have had that information for you.

You’d be suprised how many dealers don’t know. I’m stuck with the 52″ shaft and frusterated every time the waves are up.

Obviously those dealers do not read their Alumacraft dealer book. All the recommended TM shaft lengths are posted in it….
or, maybe I just like to read

Thanks again to all. Now hoping that it is here before March.

I have no complaints on the dealership. I got the deal on the boat and I was the one that was specific to keep the accessories rigging out of the deal. Hell, they would have tried selling me something that i could run from the new imap for f sakes. Being primarily from a river background, I was not sure what I would need for big waters. There is more knowledge on these boards then I can expect from a typical dealership, so this is where I came. I don’t want to deal with anyone that read a manual. I want to deal with the real-deal. Heck, I have read lots of pro walleye literature…..guess that makes me a pro too huh?!?!?
