Hi, found this board searching for information on the Lowrance X126DF, X136DF and came across Jolly Ann Marine’s reviews. Since these units are new out, i can’t find many reviews on these. I had done a comparison on Lowrance’s site and it seems the only difference in these two units that i see is the depth capabilities. The X126 is good for maximum depth 1700′ and the X136 is a maximum 2500′. Since i mostly do my fishing between 10′ and alittle under 1000′ i can’t see any reason to go with the 136 for approximately $100 more unless there is something i’m not seeing. I guess i should add that i have never owned or used a Lowrance before so any help would be appreciated. Also, do you guys have any preferences in any graphs under $500 that you think would be a better buy? Just seems to be to many different makes and models to choose from and not enough knowledge to decide.

    Thanks!
BTW, nice boards you guys have going here!

    whitey523,

First of all, welcome to the site! Glad you like it.

For your fishing applications it doesn’t seem to me that you would need to spend the extra hundred bucks for the 136DF. As long as you get a dual frequency model for fishing the greater depths you should be in good shape. I wish I knew more about these units but at this time I’ve basically read the manuals and reviewed the specs. You can dig into the manuals a bit on the Lowrance website but there’s not much in there that separates these two units. The only thing I notice is a difference in the LED (white versus amber) and I don’t know a whole lot about what makes one better than the other. You might give Lowrance a call on that one. Or, maybe someone here may know. We have some staff and members here who are pretty sharp when it comes to marine electronics. They’re probably all out fishing this weekend but you’ll get some feedback here is you ask for it.

As far as units in this price range, I don’t know that you’ll find a better unit for around $350.

Again, welcome to the site. We hope you enjoy it!

    Thanks Wade,
I did ask Lowrance if that was the only difference and explained the depths i fished and in as little detail as i could the methods i fish, by email to Lowrance. I didn’t really get any information to my questions on the units other than, they would recommend the X136.

Wade, i was checking out the fishfinders on your site and i didn’t notice any RAM mounts on your pages. Do you guys carry any for fishfinders or hand held GPS’s?

    Thanks Again!

We do carry Ram Mounts but they are not on the website at this time. I’ll send you a Private Message. When you have a private message on this website you’ll see a blinking envelope in the upper left corner of your screen.

    Thanks,

    Wade

If you are considering the Lowrance X126DF, the Eagle SeaFinder 480DF is essentially the same unit. The only difference as I see it is the Eagle is rated for depths to 1500 ft and the Lowrance is 1700 ft. The best part about this Eagle is that it costs $110. less than the Lowrance.
    Just something to think about.

Good point Joe. Although Eagle and Lowrance are both made by Lowrance, they use higher end parts in the Lowrance units. That’s why the Lowrance units cost more. That being said, the Eagle SeaFinder 480DF has a price tag that might make it too good to pass up – around $240.

    Thanks,

    Hi Whitey! Welcome!

I wish I could help you with you sonar question, but I’m struggleing with my own right now. Just can’t get any first hand user info on units that aren’t out yet.

I have to ask, where do you use a sonar to 1000′?

I might be a little early in asking this, but once you do receive your unit, make a seperate post and tell us what you think of the unit.

One tip about Lorance, I’ve sent them emails asking about comparisons and a few “pointed” questions. It seems in the emails I get generic anwsers that are form answers or from someone that hasn’t a clue (that might be a little strong). When I’ve called and spoke with the fellow that answered the “service” option, he was very informative and willing to spend as much time answering question as I took (a little under an hour). But again, he could answer many questions because the unit I was talking about isn’t out yet.

    Good luck!

Wade, Thanks again. Once i figure out what i am going to purchase, i will be considering Jolly’s. From reading the boards it looks as though you guys are building a great reputation with your customers. That’s something that is getting harder to find these days.

Joe, thanks for the info on the Eagle. I’ll look into that more and see how it compares. I had briefly read through that one before and if i remember correctly. I don’t think it had the FasTrack feature and maybe a couple of other things also. I really don’t know how important FasTrack would be to me because i mostly troll. But on occasions we like to anchor, sit back and relax while fishing.

Briank, i understand what you mean. It is hard to choose what to go with on these newer sonar’s without getting some first hand info from users. When i posted the depth’s being between 10′ and alittle under 1000′, those figures are kinda broad. I probably should of used 10′ to somewhere between 600′ and 700′ maximum. In the spring, early summer and late fall i like to fish the smaller lakes and rivers around here. In July and August we enjoy fishing the Great Lakes. That would be Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Lake Ontario is the deeper of the two lakes.

whitey523 – Be sure to come back and check the site once in a while. We’ll continue to have product updates and we’ll try to get feedback on all the new products once they’ve been out and in use for a while. We also do some fun stuff here, like give away free gear and guided fishing trips, and Get-Togethers. Lots of good stuff going on here and it’s only getting better.

Please let us know which fishfinder you end up with and how it performs for you.

    Thanks!

    Wade
