I have that auger and I am pretty happy with it. Plenty of power but not real fast. The only real issue I have with the auger is ice building up on the bottom when its really cold out but I was told that a few shots of Pam (cooking spray) and I wont get that build up. Good auger for the price, with the proper fuel mix she will start on the first pull everytime I always allow 2-5 minutes for my auger to warm up also. I think that helps keep the motor in good running condition.
I bought the Mako 43cc model this year, and i’ve been very happy with it so far. it starts first pull, drills fast, and for under $300 brand new, you really can’t beat it.
I dont know much about eskimo, but you can probably pick up a year or two old strikemaster lazer for in the 250-300 range and they have both speed and reliability.
