Rod purchase question

    Odds of catching a record fish aren’t real good for me… Even if they were, if I’m buying a new rod its generally for a very specific purpose and there aren’t many offers that would make me buy a potentially lesser rod for a chance at winning something…. I’m very (VERY) partial to St. Croix, so I’d stick with them. Gimicks and Crazy offers don’t often sway my decisions…

    2 cents.

    If the rods were very close, possibly. But then I don’t catch much so I don’t see that as a big positive for me.

    Im stuck on St Croix rods and Shimano reels sensitivity is everything when it comes to a rod you get what u pay for .

    I’d just buy another St Croix Xtreme and forget the rest…these are unbelievable rods.

    I know Boat and engine manufactures use this kind incentives and I do know of a few tourney fishermen who based their boat and motor purchases on these incentives. I’m sure if the incentive was high enough it would effect some buyers decisions

    I have a good wife who bought me 2 loomis walleye rods for a tenth anniversary.They are the greatest! Tough as nails.Will not fish without them if possible.No incentives could ever change my mind.The wife is not replaceable for any incentive either.

    I have both G-Loomis and St. Croix. I can’t compare them because they are for different purposes. I like both, but I think the nod would go to St. Croix in the end. And I will be picking up a couple of Extremes before warmer weather.

    When I purchased my Guide boat I had the same decision about the main outboard motor…so…
    I went to as many tournaments as possible and talked to the NON SPONSORED competitors. The guys that paid big bucks out of their pocket rather than run sponsored motors.
    From several testimonies I bought a Yamaha 4 stroke.

    Through many years as an “obssesed” fisherman I fished all the top brands from Fenwick to Loomis…
    St Croix and Loomis are both top notch rods…but for the fishing I do…casting/pitching/vertical jigging Walleye and Smallmouth Bass, and drifting Lindy rigs the St Croixs XF actions work better for me.
    with the exception of their low end series…are made in Wisconsin and have phenomenal warrantees.

    St. Croix Legend Extremes and Shimano reels. You can do no better.
