Well, Rivereyes may have the nicest camera, but I’ve got access to some pretty pricey stuff when it comes to taking pictures like the attached.
What is it? It’s the output pulse from my old analog flasher. 200Khz sawtooth wave gated on for a duration of approximately 400 microseconds. The reason I thought people might have interest is the discussion we had about output power of various fishfinders and how it effects performance.
On the output power question, it’s pretty easy to see how with a ping duration of only 400 microseconds it is easy to integrate up the wattage. Watts is integrated power in a full second of on time, so there’s about a factor of 2000 generated (with this unit) by only having the output power “on” for 400us.
Others might just be interested in seeing what a sonar ping looks like on paper; pretty good stuff. I could show you a return, but something in the unit is de-tuning the ‘ducer (thus, the need to bring the scope home).
