Hey guys just wondering how much leadcore will fit on these reels? I found them on scheels website for 45 dollars. I’m looking for a real that will hold 10 colors of lead but don’t have a lot of money to spend.

dont know what size reel you looking at, But I beieve the 30dx will or very close to it.
Which size reel you looking at ? Also depends on what lb leadcore your running. If your wanting to put 10 colors of 18lb with backing you will probably want a 30DX.I will say the drags on these reels as well as a couple other brands are notorious for backing off! Just need to pay attention to keep from bumping star drag,as they move easily, when reeling or making sure drag isnt backing off when bringing fish in.
For a budget minded angler & seeing limited usage they should work fine.
I run the 20’s for longlining mono and the 30’s for lead, I think I got 10 colors on it.
The Magdas or Magda Pros are a entry level linecounter reel.Which with limited usage 10-15 trips a year you could get 3-5 years out of,possibly more?I have wrecked a few of these reels as well as few Diawas in under 1 year. But I spend considerably more time trolling in 1 year than most people in that 3-5+ year period.
Spending $45 & having it last 3-5 years with 10-15,+ or – trips per year it would cost you about $1 per outing.Which really isnt all bad.I have some 47 Diawa Sealines that have seen 8 years + & still working well.I cant say that for the smaller 17 or 27 size Diawas seeing somewhat similar results as the Magdas. The Sealines are about 2 X the cost retailing around $90-$100.The next steps for me,which Im considering on taking the plunge into is either the Okuma Catalina retailing at $130-$150 or Shimano Tekotas which are retailing about $170-$200+
.Just depends on what you expect to get out of your reel, how much your going to use them to justify the cost & if it fits your budget!
Well this year I will proablly be averaging 2-3 trips a week from ice off to ice up. So its kinda sounding like I need to fork out the extra money and get daiwas? Does anybody know if scheels carries the 47s? I looked on there website and all they had was the 17 and 27.
The Diawas are worth the extra $$ if you go that way.
I am not sure where you are located ,but contact Dean at Everts Resort, 715-792-2333 Monday-Friday.He has the 17,27 and the 47 and can even ship to you if needed.
I’d consider the Okuma StradaMaster
I own 8 of these reels and will be getting more. I’ve got 8 of the Diawa AcuDepths too and the StrataMasters really put them to shame for the price. I’ve yet to have any issues with the drag loosening on them but all of my Acudepths are getting bad.
My biggest complaint with them is that the line counter button is very touchy. If you bump it it will reset. It’s something I’ve gotten used to and I’m just careful while handling the rods.
I run the size 30’s for leadcore and can easily fit 10 colors on them.
