    Hey Brett!

The only seat of yours I’ve seen is Bill Cadwells. I watched his boat bounce up the ramp and watch Bill kind of move up and down. It looked like your seats took the shock out of the bounce.

    Question.

What’s the difference between your seats and the “air glide” pedestals?

BK- I’ve been in quite a few boats with the air ride seats and most of them had lost all their air. It rode like a regular seat.

I don’t think the air rides pedestals were designed to take the shock from pounding waves. Rather to adjust the height of the seat.

I ran the Smooth Moves for a few years. (Thanks Brett!!) They are a spring loaded design. They cannot “Blow Out” like an air ride design. They can be adjusted for you heavier guys.

Having run both, there really is no comparison. It really shows up when you are sitting in lower seat heights and you cant use your legs to brace for the shock your lower spine takes.

Brian, the smooth moves are adjustable for your weight…

There are springs in the back of the seat and an adjuster on the top with a weight guide. I have my seat set to my weight, the others riding in the boat can adjust the passenger seat as necessary.

As depicted in the picture and very poor paint skills…. The red line on the left shows the weight of the person sitting on the seat, the arrow (or what i tried to look like an arrow ) on the top is how you adjust the seat for your weight.

You want to take a ride in my boat this weekend, i’ll have it down at everts!!

As long as we are talking about weight, how much do they…er can they handle?

You guys know the installation time?

    BrianK,

I installed two Smooth Moves seats in a Triton 215 this summer in about two hours. The second was a little quicker as I knew the routine. My installation included removing the original seat posts, bolting in a flat plate to move the post back about six inches, installing a new, shorter post, and bolting the new suspension system to the original Triton seat.

The project is a relatively simple bolt-in job. All the parts were in the box and instructions were clear, even for me. This is a quality product that works as advertised. I live on Lake Superior and encounter rough water on most trips.

Brett installed mine in about 20 minutes per mount… but he’s had a bit of practice. I would be willing to bet that anyone that could tell the working end of a hammer from the handle could get the job done in 45 minutes with a couple breaks figured in there to run to the fridge for a replacement beer.

As for the mounts… I love ’em.

I’m not trying to hijack this thread, but the new Shock Master system is awesome. Installation takes minutes and does not require moving anything.

Is that the one that kinda replace the stock pedestal? I heard something about them. Just don’t recall what.

I weigh 235 and my fishing partner runs about the same. I bought a used set of smooth moves, and three years later, they still are doing a great job. Thanks again Brett for helping me put them in, I do have a hammer deficiency…

I am a little slow in getting in this post as normal. The difference between a Smooth Moves suspension and an air ride pedestal is night and day.The air rides first & formost do not recover near fast enough from wave to wave even when they are working properly. The smooth moves unit is a very true weight adjustable suspension that handles the most adverse conditions with ease and durability. The Smooth Moves suspension is designed with four springs and a hydrualic shock absorber.I have been at this for six years and customer satisfaction on my units is almost unbelievable. The weight limits go beyond 300lbs depending on your personal demands from the product which is determined by the customers needs and requests. If it is not right for you and or the fit in your boat I will not sell it to you plain and simple. The install is generally very easy with no-drilling required and in most cases you will retain full 360 degree rotation of your seat if you elect to use the proper mounting hardware which I can help you with.I am proud to say these suspensions are awesome!!! If you want a test ride give me a shout and I will see who I can get you in touch with in your area.

    Pretty bold.

When would you not sell them to someone?

..and the question of the day. They help a persons back…how about the fishing? Lord knows I could use any advantage that’s out there!

There is a weight limit factor to the suspension itself that I address with the customer.Let`s say we have a person whom weighs 320lb which is fairly common these days and they are interested in a suspension. At this time I will talk with them about their expectations of the suspension because thay are definatly towards the top of the weight capacity of the unit.I will ask them how they will normally use the suspension meaning, are you a person on big water trying to run hard thru 3-4 footers or are you looking to take some of the bite out of 1-3 ft waves at a moderate pace.If they tell me they want to run hard in big stuff I will let them know up-front that they will probably not be happy as they will requently be able to bottom the unit out.If they operate under more moderate conditions I can help them.I have customers over 375lbs using the product but they understood the product before the purchase. There is also some boats that the fit is either not possible [ like a bass boat] or they will have limitations to the seat movements due to storage boxes etc.I explain to the customer how it will be in the end and let them decide. There is pros and cons but the benefits usually far out way the down falls. As for helping your fishing BK you are beyond help LOL!!!!! Seriously though they do help to certain extents. One is pure comfort and less fatigue on the body as water is very un-forgiving and you do not realize how much your body is taking a beating until you feel one of these units work even in moderate conditions. You will also be far more willing to travel greater distances on the water to get to the better bite that is always on the other end of the lake.So can it help? To a point yes,but it won`t put the fish on the line for you.One last thing as I am rambling on,I have sold alot suspensions to guys looking to make the FW more comfortable so they can fish more and longer days with them. Long answers but it`s the only way to explain some things.

Just an FYI for everyone. In the near future as they become available I will also be selling the new Shockmaster system to offer my customers a choice in products.I am testing the unit now and I am figuring out there is enough difference in the two products that I can offer my customers the choice and let them decide between them. Also I believe I will be at the Saugeramia this Sat and can ofeer up some test rides after the tourney if anyone is interested.I have both units installed in my Tuffy at this time.

The Smooth Move seats work awsome, I had some in my Lund and they are worth it if you run any sort of big water
