    Hey everyone!

I was in Galyans yesterday and they’ve got 50% off on select fishing items!

Quantum SS10’s and SS40’s combo’d on Rhino rods for $15.00!!! If you don’t need one, some kid at the next ARM event will!!! Normally $30.00, it’s a cheap way to do a kid a favor and get a tax deduction.

Quantum Pulse Spinning reels, all sizes. Reduced from $59.99 down to $29.99. 5BB and magnetic bail closure……no springs to wear out! I’ve checked Ebay and there’s hardly a one for sale………a pretty good indicator of what’s working for others and not getting “junked”.

Galyan’s IM7 graphite rods, down from $39.99 to $19.99. Again, pretty cheap way to get decent stuff.

No………..I don’t work for them or have any association to them………. I just know we all need a good deal from time to time and thought I’d pass it on!

Are Gaylan rods good? Does anyone have experience w/ them? I want to pick up another 7′ bait casting rod and have a Galyans gift certificate.

I don’t know who they get their blanks from or who makes them. I’ve used their ultra-lights before and they handled up to 2lb. white bass just fine……….but I can’t speak for the larger/stronger rods. Because it was “only” $20, I picked up a 6′ med/hvy spinning rod to experiment with come spring.

Just to save you a possible trip DaveB, call them and make sure they have a 7′ rod in the sale. I didn’t see any at the store I was at but guessing you’d be going to the Woodbury location. They might have some, but I’d call first. I saw 6′ and 6’6″……….no 7’s.

    Dave,
I have a 6’6″ GN2224 IM7 2 piece Med. I bought it last year. Seems like a fine rod. I don’t use it much and actually forgot I had it until recently. I married it up with a Pinnacle Tetra reel. Should be a great bass rod.
Ever since I bought the 6’9″ to 7 ft. Croix’s the shorter rods are hard to go back to.
A great rod for the $$$ are the Shimano Clarus series. They are equal to the Premiers (imho) and about 20 dollars less.
I have a 7 ft ML. A three lb bass sure is loads of fun!
