Looking to step up and buy a GPS for the up coming ice season. It seems the H2OC is the go to model. I’ve been doing a little research/reading reviews etc… on the H20c. It seems some guys are reporting software problems including issues locking satellites. So, how would you rank your H20C happy with it or not? Is Lowrance currently working on a new version of this unit to arive on store shelves soon? OR other recomnedations for a cold weather GPS?
    Thanks

If you have an iPhone there is a $5 Navionics App that you can download. It is the exact same as the $100+ chips they sell for the H20’s. Works great for ice fishing, plus you’ll never forget it cause its right on your phone.

1 out of 10 I would rank mine rite around an 8. As with any other GPS it has it quirks. I have not had problems locking satellites however once in a while it will lose it’s position, with a quick shut off and turn back on it quickly aquires it’s position. The accuracy is fairly consistent but surely has it’s off days. At this point in time I wouldnt trade it for anything else. It’s nice to sit at home and pick the spot you want to fish.

I love mine, I got the 09 chip and it says it doesnt have LOW but it does and it has the Rainy River as well. It works great and have had no real issues to date but, bring back up batteries as it will suck em down

I’ve got the black and white one and I love it. I rides on my boat in the summer hooked to a deep cycle, make sure you put lithium batteries if you plan on running it for long in the cold and have a spare set of batteries or 3. I also find mine works best in ice if I keep in inside my coat until needed. The colder it is the slower it is.

I loved mine until a couple months ago. Now it won’t lock satellites at all.

I was reading on another site where they were talking about a next generation of the h20c due out in June this year. Anyone know anything about this? I see Lowrance has a software upgrade to 1.10 on their site.

I dont think so, the iPhone has a built in GPS, I dont think the iPod touch does. It also uses the cell signal for better positioning but will still work if you have no signal.
