Beginning to look at a new boat as a graduation present to myself in December. I am noticing that with Smokercraft boats you would get more for your dollar than with say a Lund or Alumacraft. Just wondering if anyone knows of any issues with them due to the cheaper prices. Any additional information on them and other boats would be greatly appreciated.

i fish with an old time guide on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage. he just traded his old Smokercraft for a new one. that’s pretty big water and he’s out nearly every single day from May until October. I know his recirc pump went out on livewell in the old boat. they are pretty solid. he’s had a number of problems with ETec motors. that’s a different convo.

between myself, family and friends I can probably account for 6 of them. Never had a hull-related problem with any one them, they always got us home. Don’t get me wrong, I love my (current) Lund, but nothing about Smokercraft/Sylvan/Starcraft bothers me.

Good buddy has had one for over 10 years, no issues at all. Pretty smooth ride, tends to spear the waves when they get big, but that’s just the model he bought that year.

I’ve had 2 SmokerCrafts in the last 12 years. I also feel you get more for your money . Resale is not as good as on some of the ‘name’ brand boats but since you didn’t pay as much you don’t lose as much. Quality on both boats was/is great. If I live long enough to need another new boat, it will be a SmokerCraft.

I have a Sylvan (which is made by the same company I believe). I have had no problems with mine.

I owned one for 6 yrs. Great boat for the money, no problems at all, but I didn’t care much for the Northwood trailer it sat on tho.

I too had a Smoker for over 10 years. Sold it to a buddy last year— still no major problems. Only thing that went wrong for me was a bilge pump motor, and the twist valve that opens and closes the livewell drain broke. Both easy and cheap fixes. I say they are well worth the money.

My fishing buddy has had 2 of them over the last 15 years. He loves them. They seem to be a good solid boat. I don’t care for the seats in his current one, but thats a minor thing. Takes big waves with a nice soft ride.

I have a 192 Fazer which I love. I have had it on some really big water, and it always brings me back safe. I would buy another in a heart beat.

My Sylvan was a decent boat. They cut corners to get a cheaper price point in my opinion but I wish I still had mine even though it came with a motor that had issues with oil injection long ago.
