Anybody out there used the Jason Mitchell walleye rods. I’ve been using St Croix mainly for the last couple years but was thinking of trying these Mitchell rods.

The mitchell rods are one of the MANY price point rods made in China that will be incredibly similar to a Gander, Cabelas, Limit Creek, etc. rod at the same price point. They’re not bad rods. But they really don’t offer anything that can’t be found from a limitless other number of companies. In this category my advice is to buy on price and warranty as there really isn’t much if any performance or technology difference between the rods.

Thanks James…enough said ( made in China )! I’ll stick with my Croix’s on that note. Can’t beat that warranty.

If it is leadcore your planning to use them for I would not think twice trying them out. Dean down at Everts will let ya test drive them but I have run a fair share of rods leadcore and the Jason Mitchels are not just another rod the tips read very well….not saying anything against st croixs just saying for the price there a excellent rod no doubt

Erick is right, the Mitchell shorties are definately a great rod at a good price. Can’t go wrong in my opinion.

Erick are you using the shortys, or the longer trolling rods? And being from Grand Meadow you must know James “walleye guy”. We fished an MTT together.

As James and others mentioned – lots of rods will get this job done and depends on how you like to fish, read your rods and use your rods.

I own 4 of the Scheels 10’6″ – medium action that I use 2 for lead and 2 for fireline and love them. They were in the $50 +/- price range each and when you need mutiples as my situation demanded these worked very good. I have caught many fish on them in the 4 seasons that I have owned them. Where are they made? Could care less as they work and I put fish in the boat with them.

Now the 5′ trolling rods are a different animal. One day I lost 3 different big fish in a tournament that were all hooked up on the inside rods (5′ ones) with fireline. More than a coincidence to me and I now have a different solution for the inside rods

Good luck with your decision and do yourself a favor and shake and flex a few before you purchase. If Dean still has the try before you buy, take advantage of that and you will be very satisfied with your investment!
