Boat Trailer question

I have heard of guys taking their boat trailers to the places that do spray-in bed liners for pickups, and having their trailers coated in that. I live on a gravel road, and after having my new boat for only a year, I have several rock chips on the bottom support bars of my trailer, and it’s only a matter of time before it starts to rust from the paint chipping, has anyone tried the bedliner stuff? If so, how did it work? and how much did it cost?

This should work great for your trailer, just think of the beating the bed of a pickup takes.Great idea please tell us how you like it.

I have never heard of that being done but that could be a neat idea. I have known peoiple who have had their trailers rust really bad from alot of rock chips. I would ask the guy who owns the business that does this how well he thinks it will stand up to all the rocky/gravel roads. Could be a trailer saver if it works good. Please let us know what you find out and how good it works if you have it done. Thanks, Bill

I wanted to do this to my trailer all year, it got just beaten on a trip to Northen light in Canada, the only problem is trying to find a place to park my boat, trailer less for a couple day til this is done.

I don’t know why this wouldn’t work great. I still plan on doing this, but will have the whole trailer sand blasted, and reprimed with some rust preventing stuff. I don’t expect this to be cheap, but it should be good for life. Next time I buy a boat I’m taking the trailer before the boat and having this done from day one.

I’m planning on doing just that with my next Warrior trailer this spring. It may be a good investment for resale.

I don’t have a boat trailor ….but then again I don’t have a boat either…..but I do this to my utility and atv trailers: Rather than bedliner I just scuff the bottom up and get a can of undercoating. It usually lasts a few years, and costs about 10 bucks per trailer. Also, I put small mud flaps on the fenders…you wouldn’t believe the difference it makes!!
