I have 3 that I like very much. Haven’t had to take them back, so don’t know about the warranty.

The few IM7 rods I have owned seem to be pron to the tips breaking off. These where on 7′ rods. When brought back to Gander they just handed me anouther rod. My rods do take alot of abuse so the tips might have been my fault.
My next time out rod shopping I plan on taking a little better look at the St Croix premiers. They must be in about the same price range as the guide series.

I really like these rods. In my opinion, they are a great rod for the money. I have been using their rods almost exclusively for the past two years now. I have their spinning rods, baitcasting, and trolling rods. For spinning and baitcasting, I prefer the IM 8 rods. The IM 7 are nice also. I guess I wasn’t impressed with any thing less than the IM 7. As for as warranty, they have a 2 year warranty. I have only had to have one replaced so far and they just handed me a new one, no questions asked. Not a lifetime warranty, but I have a hunch they may replace a rod past 2 years as long as it doesn’t look like a person drug it behind their truck. I also bought a couple of their Guide Series ice rods this winter. So far I’m pretty pleased with them also. If you have any other ?? about their rods, feel free to PM me.

Each store is different, but I know the two I worked at replaced rods that were well past the two year warranty. Like most situations in life, if you approach a situation properly, you will be surpised by the outcome.

I agree with Coot. Don’t buy anything less the the IM7. I still have a couple of the 6.5′ spinning rods. Ever since I bought a couple of the 6’9″ Avid ‘Croixs they have a tough time getting out of the rod locker. I’ve never had problems with the GS rods either. I see the Premiers are up around 75 to 80 bucks this year. What are they getting for the GS rods?

Picked up a guide series rod last week. GM in Rochester had them on sale for $49. Used it yesterday at Red Wing. From the little I used it was very pleased, but its not an Avid. For the money I think its a very good rod.
