So I just picked up a 2006 Ranger 621VS this past weekend. Still trying to get fully acquainted. I have some questions about this boat that mainly focus around the keyless ignition and touch pad.

The Ranger manual doesn’t do that great of a job explaining all of the details about the touch pad, but at this point I do know how to start/stop the engine and I was able to reprogram a new code for starting.

Here are the questions I have:

    1) The LED next to the fuel pump icon is flashing all time if the touch pad is in wake mode. It goes off when I turn the touch pad off. I can’t confirm yet what it does while the engine is running. Is the flashing LED next to the fuel pump normal or an indication of a problem?

2)There is a key over ride on the dash, but the connector on the back is not connected to anything. In the event I need to do a key override, what do I plug into the connector? Do I need to disconnect something to plug into this?

    3) I’m not sure what is hooked up to all of the Accessory switches. I know that A2 is my stereo/sat radio, but A, A1 & A3 I’m not sure about. Is there a factory standard for how these are wired? My bow mount and dash mount seem to operate without any of these turned on. Could the be connected to nothing and just available for other accesories?

Thanks for the help, hoping to get the boat on the water for the first time since the test drive this weekend.

    Have you contacted your dealer?

With a purchase of this magnitude, dealer support after the sale is key!

I purchased the boat used from a private party (out of state). I did try calling one of the local dealers in Ham Lake and the person on the phone didn’t have a clue, kept going to ask someone else and eventually he just hung up on me. I’ll be working with another dealer in Chisago City at this point even though they are farther away.

    1) No Clue? My light is constant.
    2) You may not have any other accessories. Mine is set up the same a2 stereo, but all others are blank.
    3) I have a key overide loose in the glove compartment not hooked to anything. There is a plug that connects to the keyless pad that would need to be disconnected and reconnected to the key override in emergency.

    Enjoy your ride!

I own a 05 620 with the keypad and a key backup. My key just has a wire harness on it, if I need to use the key start I unplug one of the 2 harnesss from the back of the pad and plug in the key. If you look on the back of the pad its obivious which one to unplug as they are 2 different sizes. the accesory buttons on mine are a1-a3 and a3 runs my radio the other 2 are extra and on mine run nothing.I dont have a fuel pump button on mine so I cant help you there.Hope the rest is helpful. Congrats on the new rig!

Pics added to the original post. And I uploaded some video to youtube that shows my keyless pad and operation. When the start button is on then the flashing LED turns off. Watch the video and let me know if this is normal operation?

When you said you were going to take it to Frankies you were on the right track.

Go over there and let them run you through it.

1 – if you have command link digital gauges that is the issue as the fuel gauge is integrated into the gauges and the wire isn’t connected. Otherwise my understanding is that means one wire from your gas gauge is not connected (if I recall correct it’s a pink wire)

2 – you will need to order a key override – it plugs into the connector You can order one direct from Range parts or a dealer or give me a PM and I will sell you mine – I now have a 620T and don’t need it.

3 – if you have lowrance units then A1 is usually wired to power the network for your GPS puck – otherwise check with the previous ower or look at the wiring diagram under the driver storage comparment lid and see which wire color is wired to A1 & A3 and then look under the dash to see if there is anything hooked to the butt splice connectors and go from there. Good chance that they are open and don’t power anything.

Congrats on the ownership and welcome as new Ranger owner!!!

Problem solved. It was a bad key pad. Frankie’s plugged in a new one and no flashing on the new one. I was told this is seen most frequently when they are matched with Yamahas. Not sure why. Now cross my fingers Ranger is willing to warranty it, Frankies is working on that for me. This problem was evident from the day the boat was delivered.
