I have a pro sport20 plus that is not working correctly. I plug it in and the power light flashes. I called customer service and they said to check all the inline fuses. They were fine and a call back to customer service was made. They said to get a volt meter and check every lead for 12 to 14 vlts. He said maybe a lead was bad and we can go from there. I dont have a volt meter and was wondering if anybody else has had this problem and what should I expect? Thank you, Dan

My problem was the in line fuse. Meters are <$10 at harbor freight tools, radio Schaack etc. Tstingthe output will be a key peice of info. No output probably means a new unit.
Depending on where its mounted and where wires are routed,..that could be an unwanted headache.

Good advice. Don’t forget the easy stuff…like checking for corrosion and having a good contact to the batteries.

Might want to check the batteries themselves for proper level of water and with your $10. volt meter from Harbor Freight, check their voltage too.

Thanks Brian, I did check all connections. I cleaned them and checked for corrosion. I guess I should check the water level but then again I’ve never done that before. Is there a special ratio or special water to put in them if low. The batteries are only one year old so is there a chance they could be low? Thanks for the help, Dan

They could be low just from charging them and should be checked anyway, but your charger would still charge them even if they were a little low. Pull the covers off the top and see with a flashlight if the solution inside is covering the tops of the plates. If you can see something sticking up out of the solution you are low. They say distilled water is best to fill them up with but I have used tap water without any problems.

Assuming you have a normal lead acid battery, and not a gel or AGM type battery.

Checking water level is easy, pop the caps off (carefully it’s acid in there) and look in, I’ve always filled till you could see an “eye” in the hole, but pretty much it’s fill it til it full, but the cap will fit, without squirting out the acid everywhere. Besure and use distilled water, you may have to make a trip to the store to buy a jug, regular water is too hard and with the elements in regular water it will coat the plates in the battery and result in less and shorter battery life. Super easy, needs to be done probably a couple times each summer, but it’s easy to check
