I’ve been using it for years. Spooled up a small spinning reel with 20 lb for the then 6 year old last year. Second trip using it he landed a 36″ northern that made 4-5 runs from the boat. Never would have happened with mono.

I agree, Having been a user of Fireline for many years I had a friend re-spool a reel while on the water with 8# power pro.
I noticed and immediate improvement in cast-abiltiy and it laid on spool better too. I’ve looked very closeley at the line and see that it retains it’s roundness much better than Fireline. I set-up my wife with PP on her St. Croix Legend Extreme,Legend Elite and tie jigs directly to it .
Her hook-ups have definitley improved in-fact she usually out fishes me !
I now am running 30# on all our trolling set-ups and have seen better abraision resistance with the Zebra Mussel problems we have here on Lake Michigan. Another thing we have found is that it has NEVER been an issue with tying directly to a cross lock snap to a harness or crankbait. In Fact I’ve been seeing somewhat better success vs low vis leaders. ( Perhaps a function of better hook-up with no stretch in spite of only 5′ leader ?? )

Spooled up my swim jig rod for the first time yesterday with 65 lb. power pro.
    Excellent results.
I have always fished swim jigs with fluorocarbon and have been happy.
Anyone have any problems with power pro?
    Does it hold up well?
I fish Fireline on my carolina-rig rod and don’t like the way it frays and gets rough, any concerns with the power pro?
    thanks

Been using pro for 3 years, stuff is great. After the 1st year I respooled everything, but then heard to reverse the line. Fished last year, then this spring reversed the line, so far so good. Have started using flourocarbon leaders on some clear lakes with the Pro. I use power pro on all of my rods. Only use the 65lb on my musky rods. I run the 20lb on most of my poles. A few of my spinnning rods I use the 10lb. I cannot break 20 no matter how hard I try.

65lb on a swim jig rod?

i bet anything small than a 3 lber. gets a pretty good ride at hookset

Yes those 13″ers are coming back pretty quick.
The reason for the 65lb. is the larger diameter doesn’t cut into the spool like the thinner diameter will.
At least that was the reason from the guy that recommended it to me.
I had no problems with the line cutting into the spool after catching a fish.
I had been fishing 17 lb. trilene fluoro and after every fish I would have make a cast just to clear the spool. the same goes for my c-rig rod. I use 50 lb. fireline and after every fish I have to clear the jamb.
So yes the 65 is definitely overkill and I’m really worried if I get hung up. I’ll have to wrap the line around a cleat and fire up the merc.
But after one trip I will say it handles great.
Oh, I did loosen my drag some.

I’m a big fan of power pro. I don’t use Fireline at all, but when I did (years ago) I had huge fraying issues. It would work fine for a few days, then fray and weaken badly. I know a lot of guys who love it, but its just not for me. I’ve used the same line (without reversing) for years in some cases without problems.

I’ve been using 80 pound PowerPro for 4-5 years now. I flip it on the reel every two years.

And yes, it skates 9 pound walleyes to the boat like a crappie!!
