Anyone have one of these or used one in the past? I thought it would be useful working breaklines. I had an Autopilot at the time so I didn’t pursue information on this model. Now I’m in the market for a trolling motor and having a difficult time finding a Minnkota 24v PD with autopilot and 60″ shaft w/o universal sonar. How well do they work and did they live up to the hype?

I run a Pinpoint 3700 24volt which is the older version of the PTSv. I love it for working structure like humps and breaks. or for pitching a shoreline. True…they can be a little tempermental at times, especially on a break that is not really defined or a flat area. But when you are on a mid-lake hump and fighting a fish, you don’t lose your spot, nice when you are alone and have to net yourself in the wind. Too bad someone doesn’t take the technology and update it to work with GPS and universal sonar. The positioning motor already has 5 transducers built in for sidescan capability and are how it tracks structure. Pinpoint has had networking, sidescan, autopilot for better than 10 years now, can’t believe nobody else has tried to build a system like it. Wish Lowrance would pick up the positioning motor technology and combine it with their network-ethernet-broadband sounder-GPS-color screen…I for one would gladly fork out the extra cash for a system with all the bells and whistles !

    Bob,

Minn Kota still makes a 24v PD with 60 inch shaft, w/o US:

Click this link. It is manufacturer #1366211.

There’s also an 80 pound Terrova in 60 inch with AP w/o US.
