The lakemaster chip for 2009 is suppose to be available for purchase in the month of may. Just hold on the new chip is going to be 4 times better than the later models from what I am told.
May 2, 2009 at 2:02 am #773243I do not know what which chip will be best for you.
I do know that the new ’09 Lakemaster chip was scheduled for release today. It should be in stores as of this morningRon
May 2, 2009 at 2:28 am #773249Pools #4 and #8 have the most detail on both Lakemaster and Navionics chips. There are some real improvements on the new 2009 Lakemaster MN and WI, but I don’t know that any of those improvements include the Mississippi River. You might want to wait for the 2009 release if you find the other updates helpful to you. Below is a link that offers details on the new Lakemster chips:
>> 2009 Lakemaster Products for Lowrance and Eagle units <<
The other option would be the 2009 Navionics Hotmaps Premium North chip. You can see the entire lake list at http://www.navionics.com . You’re best bet is to compare lake lists for each chip, and then compare cost. The coverage areas are different, as are the prices.
Looking at Lakemaster’s website, it looks like they are just about ready to start selling these chips direct. I don’t think they are in stores yet.
May 2, 2009 at 2:37 am #773251looks like you can buy the new 2009 chip on lakemasters site as of today.
May 2, 2009 at 3:14 am #773264I’ll have a full review of the new 2009 MN chip up here on idofishing.com on monday evening complete with screen shots so you can see the detail available. I’ll be sure to cover pools other than pool 4 and 8 so we all can get an idea what is available.
May 2, 2009 at 4:14 am #773272River shots would be sweet, James. And if you can identify the southernmost pool on both the new 2009 MN chip and WI chip, that would be helpful as well.
I think folks will like the new black lines on the 2009 chips. That should make it easier to read contours on the GPS.

May 2, 2009 at 12:58 pm #773292James or Wade,do you know if Lakemaster will offer an upgrade for guys like me that bought the 2007 just 4 weeks before the announcement?
I wanted to wait and see if a newer chip was coming out but by mid-march I figured it would be awhile so I ordered the WI chip….My usual timingMay 3, 2009 at 2:27 am #773348Quote:

I just called around to various Ganders and Scheels stores and for the time being going direct to Lakemaster is absolutely the best bet.
Gander Eden Prairie and Forest Lake expect chips in to the stores “in the next couple weeks.”
Scheels St. Cloud has the 2009 MN Lakemaster chips in stock! 320-252-9494
Scheels Mankato does NOT have the Lakemaster chips in stock, yet.
These chips are a hot little item.
deerdraggerPosts: 346May 4, 2009 at 4:54 pm #773705I’d order it, but I’m anxious about it arriving by Friday – and – I’m going to be out of town the later part of the week so I wouldn’t be home to get it anyway. Hmph.

Scheels in St. Cloud has them in stock. Give them a call at 320-252-9494 if you live nearby.
If Scheels St. Cloud is less than convenient for you give Lakemaster a call and get a quote on ETA for an order placed today. All of my orders from Lakemaster have been processed and delivered within 48 hours. One of the nice things about Lakemaster is someone always answers the phone and their customer service is excellent.

For the lakes and areas I fish… yes. I stick mainly to MN and WI and Lakemaster always seems to have 1′ contours on the lakes I end up fishing.
