I am looking for a rod to cast crankbaits, something the size of a number 8 shad rap. I have really been looking at the TWC70MM. It’s st croixs tournament walleye light bottom bouncer rod but it does use the same blank as the small crankbait rod they also offer. My question is will this lure pull too much for this rod? It is a hard thing to judge without actualy using the rod. Maybe someone who owns this rod could chime in here.

    Thanks for the help

I have the LTBC66MHF that i’ve thrown for years. It will handle cranks easily, either casting or trolling. I know its a bit stiffer but i think the rod you have in mind would work good. Hopefully this helps, Dan

I would also consider a Avid AVC 70MF…for your application. Mine works great with #8 Shadraps.

I have had both. In my opinion, the MM is a bit light for larger plugs.I felt the mhm was and would be a better all around fit for the plugs you mentioned.

    Dean,
Do you think the MM would be a good fit for #5 and #7 shad raps or do you think the MHM would also be able to handle these cranks as well?

I typically run #9 tail dancers, #8 shad raps and #9 minnow raps but do ocassionally go smaller too.

Ideally, the MM for #5 sizes and the MHM for the bigger stuff. If only going with one,I would and do prefer the MHM . You probably have another rod already that will work for the lighter plugs.Good luck!
