I haven’t been on the water to check out my new 522c, but I was out playing with it this morning hoping to get out soon. I was running the trolling motor to make sure I was not going to have interference and the “ping” sounds irratic.

I can hear the “tap” of the transducer on the trolling motor go ping, ping….ping ping ping……ping…….ping ping ping……..ping ping(you get the idea). Shouldn’t be be fairly consistent??? The chartspeed seems to follow the pings.

I’m toyed iwth the chart speed and ping speed with no real changes.

Will this change when it is deployed in water???

    Thanks for any imput.

Have I not explained my question right?? I figured someone would have some experience.

If my question does not make sense, let me know if I need to rephrase.

    Thanks.

I personally wouldn’t be too worried about what your hearing
when you’re out of the water. Transducers are designed
to shoot through water and that’s where you need
    to test it out.

Let us know how it works at the lake/river.

I can answer this one. What you are experiencing is the locator doing a bottom search. It changes the ping rates to find the range to settle on. Put it in water where it has a bottom to find (air does not return a signal) and the pinging will become regular. Good question! Bob

Ive also experienced this with multiple units from lowrance. It should work fine in the water.

Are you sure you have US1 or 2. If my memory serves me right I don’t think the 522 will work on a US1 trolling motor.
