Trolling Motor Cables

    I need to lengthen the battery cables on my terrova. Is 8 gauge enough or do i need to use 6?

    I’ve been told 6 gauge. However when you look in my boat and on the trolling motors themselves, it’s 8 gauge. I wish I would have known. Wrestling 6 gauge is a not that fun.

    There has been a lot of discussion on this and I would just look at the gauge of wire that runs from the battery/batteries to the pre-wired female connection on your boat. I’m guessing if that is #8 then that would suffice when you lengthen your cables.

    For any one else interested… The person i spoke to at minnkota said they dont use #6 on any of thier motors, just #8.
