We’re looking to install a sonal/gps combo into our boat and was wondering if anyone new of a place or new of somebody that does the installment…? The place we were originally going to get it done was asking like 1200 bucks just to put it in

To be quite honest it isn’t that hard to install one of these units. does it have the internal antenna or external? are you puting in on the bow or console. I have installed a couple of these one in each location and it was a fairly easy job. also what kind of boat ? if you have any questions I will answer them the bets that I can.

well we havnt decided which one to purchase yet….i thinks its between the HDS-5 and the 522 or 525C…but heres the deal, we have our sonar in the console of the boat right now, and we are going to move that one up to the front of the boat, and put the new one with the gps in the console, thats why we thought it might be a bit tricky. We have a fiberglass boat, triton TR-176, thanx a lot guys

    $1200 is ridiculous.

One guy that will do a great job for you is Kevin Krumenauer at Absolute Powersports: 715-723-7705. Kevin did all the rigging in my C-liner and my Ranger. Perfect job on both!

Current lowrance products(HDS)in specific do not accept navionics cards. They are currently working on a download to be able to read the chips. Th is specifeic download has again been delayed. I have two hds 5’s on my new z520 and find them useless since they dont read the chips. The lcx 28,27 are excellent choices if you can still find them. They are easy to install and excellent units. The instructions and this website would easily get you through the installation on your boat.

thanx guys i appreciate it….i think the powersports place would be a little to far for me to drive just to get one installed, so ill see wut we can do on our own, wut do u guys think about the hummingbird units compared to the lowrance’s?

I have a lowrance 522 and a humminbird 797 side imiging unit. I can honestly tell you that the humminbird is by far a more user friendly unit than the lowrance. Lowrance makes their electronics difficult to use unless you read the 1200 page manual and memorize it. Just my opinion.

I have noticed this with the lowrance we have in the boat right now…it seems a little complicated, definately a more user friendly unit would be the way to go i think, thanx
