Do you mean the Navionics Hotmaps Premium / Lakemaster chips or the Navionics Gold+ chip that contains the Mississipi?

I have used the Nav and Lakemaster Chips. Both feature a number of Mississippi River pools, including Pool 4. There are +’s and -‘s to each. I have both a Nav Premium 09 and a Lakemaster MN chip in my LCX38, and I will often switch back and forth during the course of a trip depending on which part of Pool 4 I am fishing.

Lakemaster and Navionics chips are available through Wade at Jolly Ann Marine.

    I guess I’m not sure,and I am a novice in this subject.

The question started because I saw this deal and thought it would work slick for us in the car, pontoon and in the fishing boat.

    Any opinions would be appreaciated.

Jason Is there a substantial improvement from Nav. Miss. coverage of the 09 over the previous versions? How far south is the coverage? thanks

The Navionics Premium 09 chip has hi-def contour data for pools 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, and 10. Pools 2 and 3 are new for 2009. There is also data (not hi-def) for pool 13.

All of that is according to the Navionics web site. Scroll through the different states (MN, WI, IA) to see coverage.

The Navionics chip has pool 10 in detailed contour lines and pool 11 shows a basic contour line. Lakemaster chip does not have anything of importance on pool 11 (basic water line and no wingdams) and decent information including wingdams on pool 10. Be careful if you have a Lowrance 522. When I updated to the latest software using a navionics chip your wingdam color will change from a faint grey to a creamy color and it is nearly impossible to see them with the light blue water background. Hope this helps
