GPS Waypoints

I am having troubles plotting waypoints on my gps. I have a Lowrance 3500c with Navionics HotMaps Premium 2008. When I go to plot waypoints on my the unit, the usualy waypoint screen doesnt show. I get a screen that is titled POINT OBJECTS…then two separate categories. One with objects and the other with properties. In the objects category, it has depth contours, and then the properties category has the depth of that contour. But my unit wont allow me to plot the waypoints I want, where I want. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, what are some possible solutions to this problem?

    Thanks for the help guys!

I don’t own a Globalmap unit but if I want to mark a waypoint
on my 520c I just put the cursor where I want
my waypoint and hit the waypoint button twice.

What do you get when you press the WPT button once?

I have never seen the screen you are referring to.

I’ve tried hitting it twice but I get the same screen and the noise the unit makes when you try to do something and it wont let you. It doesnt mark the waypoint at all. Is there a possibility that it might be something with the settings of the gps? Since 3:30, this thing has been kicking my

You might want to try a “soft reset” which is not supposed

    to delete any data.

If you can back up your existing waypoints onto an SD

card it might not be a bad idea.

    GlobalMap 3500C Reset

    1. Turn unit OFF

    2. Press and hold the PAGES key the same time

    3. Press and hold the PWR key

    4. Release both buttons when the USA map

    appears

Soft Reset (Does not delete GPS Data)

Yea, I’d try the soft reset, Boods. I don’t know what the heck you’ve got going on there buddy. Sounds like nothing I’ve heard before.

I had the same thing happen with my XOG and the Navionics 2009 chip. I could make way points on some spots but the places I wanted to mark to fish did not work. I tried it once when on the lake and it made a waypoint but I did not play with it much since I knew the lake and did not have much time to fish. I was just borrowing the chip so I did not try to trouble shoot it. The chip worked fine in the owners iFinder. I figured it was just a glitch with the XOG.

I was able to mark a few waypoints today for some reason. Would it make a difference if I was fishing on the river? That thought ran across my mind also.

That’s why I am sooooo confused with your dilemma.
I never have had a problem setting waypoints anywhere, garage, basement, truck, or boat.

Let me know if I can help out in anyway.

It still is acting up, I don’t think I am getting a signal from my garage though. That might help a little?

If I recall, you do not need a signal to mark waypoints. I just moved the cursor around until I found an interesting spot and double tapped the WPT button.

Well, than that can’t be the problem! Beats me. If I can’t figure it out, I’ll just have Chris at Cabelas help me. I truly appreciate your effort in trying to hlp me. It’s nice to see people willing to help each other out on here.
