I want to make my own spinners this year, both in-line and “safety pin”. I have a few questions…what size wire? Anyone use a handheld wire forming tool, if so how is it, which make? Or just buy the pre bent wire?? This will give me evening projects and I’ll simply enjoy building, throwing and catching on my own lures! I’ve researched all the components, several places I can buy everything in bulk…is there someplace you like to order from?

Does thorne or anywhere else do classes or seminars, they’re rather simple but knowing the finer points will make it go smoother….a walk through would be informative.

Any info to help me get the ball rolling is much appreciated!

Buy your wires pre-formed for in-lone models and you’ll save yourself some time. The components are available thru a ton of vendors and yes, they are a bunch of fun to make….even better when you slip that net under a fish you’ve caught on a bait you made. I do all my spinners used on Lake Superior and have taken everything from Coho, to Steelhead, to Lake Trout, to Herring, to King Salmon on them.

Give thorne brothers a call they are having a big spring sale in mid april where everything in the store is on sale. The people that make the cowgirls will be on site giving seminars and building custom in-lines for the customers also thorne brothers stocks everything you will need to make your own.
