Marcum vs. Vexilar

    Last year I learned if you dont have one of these you wont catch quality of fish. I mostly fish for crappies on a private pond and plan on getting one. Which one do you like. I have heard that marcum is good for blocking out other interference from other machines.

    ohhhh boy. the ole’ debate on which is better.

    Personaly… each are great units. I guess it’s more of a prefence of what you really like. I think it boils down to which type of zoom feature (assuming you go with the FL18 Vex). The Vex zooms only the bottom 6 feet of the water column… and the Marcum has an adjustable zoom that covers all levels of the column. For crappes, which have a tendency to suspend at various depths… the Marcum has an advantage over the Vex.
    I have an FL18, and wouldn’t trade if for anything. OK… mayber a new boat.

    i have a vexilar fl-8 and i love it for icefishing. it is now one of my necesities on the ice. i am selling it right now so i can upgrade to a fl-18. the price is 225 dollars for the fl-8 pro pack and extra mounting kit and transducer for a boat email me if you are interested
