For those of you with 3 soner/gps units in your boat and a 24 volt trolling motor. How many batteries do you have. I currently have 3 batteries (2 bank charger and 2 batteries for troller) and 1 for the starter and depth finders. Would you add another battery and a 3 bank charger. How many units should you power with one battery?

    Any comments are greatly appreciated

I run 2 sonar units and trolling motor. 2 for the 24vlt system and 1 starter battery. I use a 3 bank charger and it works great. 2 leads go to the trolling batteries and the other lead to the starter battery. It works good and have never run out of juice. as for the 4th battery i’m sure somebody will know more than me. Dan

was wondering if I should put my 997 on a seperate battery from the starting battery? Every time I start my motor it shuts off my depth finder. Can you pull 12 volts off of a 24 volt system? I usually never run my trolling motor batteries dead.

I would say you should be fine with just 3 batteries. I would suggest a 3 bank charger though for sure. Hook up all your electronics and stuff to your starting battery and you should be fine. The charger will keep all the batteries full while not in use and when the big motor is running it will also slightly charge the starting battery. I would see if that works first and if it doesnt then add the 4th battery That is what has worked for me

I agree with Eric I was having an issue with my starting battery. what was happening I wasn`t running the big motor enough to keep my starting battery up. Running all my electronics live well and such then jigging down stream and starting the big motor run back up shut it down and repeat repeat repeat. Big motor would allways start but from one fishing trip to the next my starting battery was never fully charged, unless I made some long runs. Went to a three back charger to keep the starting battery up to snuff and never an issue now.

Check your connections and your starting battery Humminbirds are not as voltage sensitive like the Lowrances. Mine has never shut down even when my battery was low. My Lowrance used to shut down if I said BOO to it.

Edited to add Any time you hook electronics to trolling motor batteries your looking for interference issues.

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it. I’ll start looking for a 3 – bank.
