If the batteries are dead, the charger probably can’t “see” the batteries. Give each battery a charge with a different charger set to manual. Then re-try the on-board charger.
i have the minkota 3 bank charger, and was getting the boat ready this weekend and had problems with the charger saying check connection. after hooking this connection to the other two batteries in the boat i concluded it had to be the battery was bad. i took it in to have it checked and indeed it was the battery having a dead cell and replaced it. once i hooked up the new battery, all three chargers were charging and working.
Thanks for the help gentlemen. I followed Jon’s advice and appear to be back in bussiness. After some investigation it seems that the grand son turned the trolling motor on and completely drained the batteries. Once I got some juice in them the dual pro took over. Now I need to have a talk with Scotty
How so? why do you suspect it’s no working properly? You can take a volt reading on the battery with the charger off and then with the charger charging, with a decent battery you see volt readings in the 14.5v range charging, sitting fully charged, no charger you’ll be in the 12.4 range or so. I suppose there is a way to measure the charging amps, but i can’t tell you how to do that propeerly off the top of my head…
