Here is what I will be rigging my boat with this season. Mostly all older components, but with 2 kids under 2, that is about all the pocket-book will allow. (especially with the cost of the NMEA 2000 network parts) There has got to be a 2000% margin on that stuff. $20.00 for a T-connector. Are you kidding me it probably costs pennies to make. Is there pattents on that stuff? You never see after-market.

Anyways back to the question. I have a LMS-480 on the bow with a LCX-25C and Globalmap 4900 at the counsel. I have a Lakemaster 2006 and 2007 chip, and a 2006 Navionics Hot Maps premium.

What is my options/limitations with the chips? I think I read that you have to have a chip in each unit, but do I have to have the same exact chip/year in each unit to function? or just to have them all share the same GPS data with one networked LGC-2000?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

They all need to have their own chip as mapping is not

    shared over the network.

I doesn’t matter which chip you’re running in any of

    those units. (Year or make)
