Have you had it out in direct light? Wondering if it is worth the extra money for color. Would be great for the kids to see everything in color…
February 23, 2009 at 12:33 am #751362All reviews are great But if you dont fish clear water you would be happier with B/W camera. I just purchased the Marum 820 B/W for the river and though I have only played with it a couple times I love it.
I did some homework and talked to guys who have used both and thats why I went to a B/W camera
JMHO …..

The definitely work better in an ice house than in direct sunlight out on the ice but it is more than usable. As for the color… the color is awesome if you fish clear waters. If you fish stained lakes / rivers you’ll want the black and white.
February 23, 2009 at 12:34 am #751364It’s a little tough to see in direct light. Most times I use it in my house or I angle it so the lighting is in my favor.
I can’t say whether or not it’s worth the extra $$$ for color. I haven’t put mine along side a B&W model. I have heard the B&W models are better in certain situations/water types.
February 23, 2009 at 12:44 am #751369would be on mille lacs for the most part. Maybe I can get nature vision to let me test a color and black/white model this week to see for myself.

Clearest as I’ve seen.
February 23, 2009 at 12:56 am #751373This video was taken with the 825 color in 25 or 30 plus feet of water. No light…not much use for color.
February 23, 2009 at 12:57 am #751375This video was shot with the same camera in 25 or less feet of water in the same area.
February 23, 2009 at 12:57 am #751376This video was in a clearer lake. I’ll have to check with Calvin. I believe he shot it.
What is shown above is the more light penetration, the better the color will work for the operator.
Fishing at night or in deeper water…black an white might be the way to go…just to save $100.If you can afford the color…I would recomend going with it…a color camera will turn into b&w without light…but a b&w camera can’t turn into a color camera.
February 23, 2009 at 3:00 am #751417Great advice! Now it sounds like the colorwill give you the best of both worlds. If not then I suppose someone could always buy an additional B/W Camera for the 825c and use it in the condition that would require it. Right? This way you don’t have to have a Color and a B/W unit.
February 23, 2009 at 3:58 am #751440I hope to get out this weekend and compare the B&W and Color side by side.
But from what I’ve been seeing…the color camera covers everything. If there isn’t enough light, the picture will be in black and white.
February 23, 2009 at 6:30 am #751455Great camera work. I have been watching all these in normal width and accidently hit the button next to the one I normaly hit. It put it in full screen and I can,t believe the difference it made.
February 23, 2009 at 2:08 pm #751488thanks Brian for all your input…and videos (those were great) I am going to go with the color…
