Hey Derek. I just run regular oil in mine since it is on a lease but I know several guys that run Amsoil and like it. It’s more expensive but they can run a lot more miles on it. They change the filter every 12,500 miles and change the oil every 25,000 miles.
Every good mechanic I know has told me that you still need to change the oil every 3-4 thousand miles regardless if it is synthetic. Synthetic oil does not break down like conventional oil, but still gets dirty.
Personally, I run conventional and change oil every 3 K.
I know with Amsoil, you can send samples in for like $5 and they will send you a report on how the oil is and whether or not it needs changning. My brother in law runs amsoil in dodge 2500 and he is over 20,000 on this change. He just sent a sample in and Amsoil said the oils still good.
Derek. They have a web-site.I believe it’s http://www.Amsoil.I have a friend who builds drag-racing engines. He has told me some remarkable things about the Amsoil products he uses, that my non-mechanically oriented brain could never translate to you to make any sense of here.I’ve personally used it for years..it is good stuff.Mike
