My auger is kind of a mutt. Tanaka powerhead with an adaptor, and a strikemaster auger. When i went to buy a strikemaster extension they were sold out, but they have plenty of jiffy extensions, will they fit each other? 
If your looking for a cheap alternative, I went to a welding shop and had them cut the shaft of my auger and put a solid rod from the motor mount on down inside of the existing auger shaft. It is put together with a pin and all I have to do is take the pin out and slide the extension down approximately two feet and put the pin back in. Capable of going through five foot or more of ice.
