    Hey guys,
I like to fish with Fireline over Power Pro in most situations. I like the hi-viz stuff, but have never fished with Crystal. Is it good for a line watcher? How is crystal different than ‘regular’ Fireline? I haven’t done a lot of research on it, so I was hoping some of you might know. Thanks

For what applications are you talking about? I use it a lot but only for certain applications. You can see it fine.

I use crystal for long-line trolling, as a leader for leadcore trolling, and for pitching blades on the river. It’s just fine for line-watching applications.

    I’ve used both. Unless you’re fishing ABSOUTLEY “gin-clear” water, the diff.(my opinion)is a non-issue. I’m a die-hard steelheader(conv.&center-pin/float),spooky targets are what I’m after;regular & crystal have yet to distinguish themselves to the quarry.

I have been using crystal for some time now…visually speaking, much better than I anticipated. The hi vis green is perhaps better when freshly spooled, but when it fades,my eyes actually prefer crystal.

One way the Crystal is different than regular Fireline is the $30/spool price compared to $12 for regular. I grabbed a spool, saw that and put it back.

Thanks guys, just what I was looking for. My main concern is: is it good for line watchers? Looks like it’ll work well for that.

I should have been more specific for what I’ll be using it for, sorry about that. I’ll mainly be using it for jigging applications. I also use that specific rod for tossing cranks at times as well as live baiting, but mainly jigging. I just want to be able to see my line when jigging, and I gotta replace the line that’s on there now. Thanks guys–

I know what Dean is saying, too. I had some fade on me as well. In fact, that’s the stuff I need to replace! It’s still ok, but I’m thinking of just moving it over to a crappie setup and putting new stuff on the jigging setup.

Every rod in my boat has fireline crystal on it. I watch my line quite a bit when pitching blades, ringworms, or anything for that matter. Not the most visable there is out there but no problems seeing it. As for price, the highest I have seen it is 15.99. From what I have seen it usally runs a dollar or so more expensive than the other firelines.

The cost is the same regaurdless of color. I would expect you grabbed the larger spool. They come in the same size boxes.
