Currently have a Lowrance 522C IGPS. The 5″ screen is a little small when I split the screen to show map chip features and sonar reading. SO, thinking of ordering a second unit to run sonar on one unit and mapping on the other unit. Question is what’s the best option a 5300 GPS to use a map and use the 522 as a sonar unit. Any thoughts and recommendations would be much appreicated.

If I were in your shoes, I would order up another 522C. Run one in sonar mode and one in GPS mode. That way, if one goes out, you are still completely GPS and sonar capable. Redundancy is a good thing!
I run 2 520’s at the console. I also have an additional station set up next to the kicker with power/GPS/Sonar. Then I just move one of the 520’s.
Great set up for my styles of fishing.

On my last setup I did exactly as Jason described and mounted them side by side at the console on a large RAM mount. It was better than one 5″ screen but pales in comparison to my new 10″ displays but also cost less than one big display.
