GPS Question – Logging Roads

Wonder if there are any GPS units that show a good description of logging or forest roads. I am heading up to Houghton, MI in a couple weeks snowmobiling and would like to take a GPS along for some off trail riding. I went to school up there, but it was nearly 10 years ago and I don’t want to rely on memory. If someone has their GPS around, could you scroll up to the Keewanee Peninsula and give me a description of how detailed the roads are. I have been thinking about getting an H20C and this may be the key to have one.

The base map alone on a H2OC unit will not have any kind of logging road on it. You would have to get the map create software in order to have that. Hopefully someone on here will have the software so they can tell you if it covers your specfic need.

Well google maps shows some fire roads *I think* if your cell phone was high tech enough, it would show you postion on google maps using the gps in your phone, in theory….

Eitherway you can look online and see some roads in the map view.

Lowrance mapcreate is your best bet. It will work with the H2OC.

If you are looking at Lowrance units The Expedition C is a very nice upgrade. The only thing is they are hard to find due to Lowrance changing their handheld line for 2009.

I’ve looked through the Lowrance 2009 catalog and there
doesn’t appear to be any changes in the handheld lineup.

They are scheduled to be out mid summer. Looks so far to be just a base map upgrade to match some of their new insight mapping. Should be intresting to see.

From the looks of availabilty the H2O & H2OC should stay the same for next year but the Expedition C, Hunt & Hunt C will be changed. Atleast that is how it looks from production and availabilty. The H2O & H2OC are very solid units anyway you look at it.
