I’ve got the ringworm rigging/fishing fairly well figured out. I’m still in the dark as how to rig/fish the ‘doos. Do you put them on jigs and dead stick them just off the bottom? Does anyone have a picture on how to rig them. I’m heading to Pool 4 tomorrow morning and want to give them a try with all the usual suspects (k-grubs, ringies etc.)

You can dead stick them but I prefer to hang on to the rods so I can adjust how close they are to the bottom. Less is more with these buggers… often holding the bait motionless is the key to getting crunched and it seems that sometimes a 20 second pause isn’t too long. As for rigging, here’s a pic to illustrate. It’s a 4″ Catalpa Orange Doo on a Precision head… this particular color was very good to us the other day.

Thanks James. I remember seeing some pictures that had the Weedless Super-doo jigs a long time ago. I have a solid supply of the H20 jigs. I really like them.
I’m going to pick up some of the 4″ doos tonight. I have more ringies and K grubs than you can shake a stick at.
Are the 4″ grubs putting any fish on? Does Evert’s have the 5″ers.
what are expecting boat traffic to be like down there with the 50 degree temps? Bumper boats at the dam?

    Steve

On monday we saw about 25 boats total on the water. The warmer weather Tuesday brought on the numbers… maybe 75+. With the temps that mild, expect some buddies but then they don’t usually arrive in force until after 8:30 AM anyway. So I usually hit the dam area early and plan on dropping south as the crowds arrive. The 5″ K-Grubs have been very good to me. Some nicer fish and very good numbers early and late in the day. Dustin boated a 10 Lb 6 Oz. beast earlier in the week. I have a pic of it but I promised not to steal his thunder!… lol

Middle of the day the doos vertical jigged have been the ticket. 12′ – 18′ if the clouds are thick and the wind is up. 19′ – 22′ if it’s calm and sunny.

    James,
I owe you a fermented malt beverage for the great advice. I plan on being on the water pre-7AM. Good luck if you have clients tomorrow. Hell, Good Luck if you don’t. Should be a pleasant day to be fishing. I’d like to see a picture of that 10lb’er that Dusty got. Whew!
