Anyone else have one of these? I picked one up at the ice show and got it out for the first time on Saturday, they are a great little house. Light weight and easy to carry with the shoulder straps, very quick set up and tear down. The only downfall is when I got back to the vehicle I took it off my shoulders and the carrying case bag ripped, but not even at the shoulder strap but about an 8″ tear on the bag itself. I am going to contact the place I bought it from and clam corp tomorrow but has anyone else heard of this happening? I am still very happy with the purchase and know due to the pack size and weight this will be my go to house for sure

    Hey Wade,

I think the Clamcorp “Base Camp” is a new product this year so I don’t think the carrying case has had a lot of consumer testing.

I doubt the retailer stocks just the carrying case but they may exchange the whole package for you.

    I would call Clam first.

    Good Luck!!

Very roomy. We sold out the first weekend Gander had them. My only concern was the wind factor. The thing is a sail! Nice shack though.

yeah I looked at those things, looked like the ticket if there was some snow for banking and and you were able to get set up with little wind, with two or three guys it would go up in a snap after you went through the drill a couple of times. Are the Eskimo brand the same style? Kind of like the tent thing, the carying case which the tent comes in is usually only used once, then it is impossible to fit it in the bag with out tearing it up. Might be the time to buy a heavy duty canvas bag with a heavy duty zipper.

we had some pretty good gusts on the lake and once I realized I needed to anchor it by the walls and not the corners of the skirting it didn’t even flinch in the wind, and set up and take down was a snap. I had no problem getting it back to its original size to fit in the bag I am glad I purchased it, just want to get my bag fixed….

Totally agree i got the eskimo and i cant find one bad thing about it. Great shack and is very portable setting up in less than s minute and tearing down the same. Goes into bag easy and is lite. only 23 pounds

I got one and the bag ripped out in the middle nowhere near the load bearing areas. It was nice enough, but I preferred the flip over style shelters so I returned mine.

I have one. I like it a lot. I had it out in the wind once, and once I anchored the walls, it worked out fine. I did get a couple additional ice anchors for it, so that I could anchor all four corners and two walls. I set it up with a corner facing into the wind, and anchor the two walls that face the wind.

I haven’t had a problem with the bag… yet. I always carry bungee cords, so if it happens, I will at least be able to get home with it.
