Arctic Sno suits….

Wasn’t there a deal on them last season through this website? If so, is it still going on?

I have read a lot of reports on these suits, but am very leary of dropping that kind of $$ on a pair of bibs and parka without doing some serious research first. Are they actually twice as good as the strikemaster jacket/bibs??? They are roughly double the price of the Ice Armour suits….that is some serious cash to a guy with a family that just gets out one or two times at best per week.

Snosuit is the only one I have tried and Im more than happy with it. Not sure how it would compare to the others on the market. Thorne Brothers in Fridley carried the SnoSuit last year and had another brand also. That may be a good place to compare them.

One thing I look at when using the SnoSuit is the lack of layering you need to wear under it and the time it used to take to put on and take off all those layers. A pair or 2 of quality long jongs, a good fleece sweater and maybe a extra jacket was common to wear for the other products I used to use and this stuff could easily add up to a couple of hundred dollars. Now I just throw the SnoSuit bibs and coat on and out the door I go.

    Hope this helps.

Tim, here is a list of locations that sell Sno Suits not sure where you are located, but stop in and try one on.

    sno suit dealers

Previous to wearing a snow suit, I was a carharts guy. I would bundle up with 3 or 4 layers and go. By the middle of the day the bibs were soaked and frozen from drilling holes and hole hopping and being on my knees fishing. Depending on the weather, sometimes I would have to fish out of the shack because I was soaked and or frozen. I’m not a cold baby, but when you’re wet, your wet.

I got a sno suit last year. The first couple of outings were horrible, wheelers breaking through the top layer of ice, slush and water a real mess. I bundled up like I used to during these first outings, only to have to take the jacket off, cause I was hot.

After I figured out how to layer properly, and use the vents in the coat, I was able to keep myself comfortable. Now its just a tee shirt, sweatshirt and the sno suit and I’m out the door.

There are some really cool features with the sno suit, the knees and shoulders are almost pre bent, i don’t know how else to describe it, but its not difficult to move in the suit. There are zipper vents on the jacket that allow you to open/close depending on the weather and what you’re doing. I’ll often have it zipped up tight while running to the spot, then open them up while punching holes and hole hopping.

The cuffs on the coat are also very nice, I’ve jammed my hand in more than one ice hole going after a fish, and my hand will get wet, but nothing else. And packets galore. Sometimes a challenge to find which pocket you put the phone in.

This suit does a great job keeping the body core warm, for me, if my core is warm, my feet are warm and my hands are warm allowing me to stay out longer and enjoy the day.

Hole hopping all day I have yet to have water soak through the suit.

I’m very happy with the sno suit, and have borrowed mine out to buddies to have them try it, only to have to wrestle it back out of their hands.

I also wear it while fishing p3/p4 during the winter months.

Stop in and give one a try. This is just my experience with the sno suit, but I give it 2

Just wanted to add a short note in here also. They are not only great for hunting and fishing in the cold, they work great for snowmobiling also. One less set of warm outer wear you have to buy if you do both.

As for the fishing side of them. I wear them all winter while fishing pool 4 from january til about march. My standard layers are long john pants, and jeans, then a t-shirt, sweatshirt, and MAYBE a light flannel. That is the most i have ever layered with them and there has been days that it has been 5 to 10 degrees out, on top of that while open water fishing you are not nearly as active as ice fishing.

All in all I would say they are definately worth it.

How can anyone lay down that kind of money not knowing what your going to get?

    That’s NUTS!

Drag your butt and boat down to Everts and use his try before you by demo.

Even if you can’t go fishing for a day, take a stroll outside…get some of that wind off the 35 degree water. Then make up your mind.

After Christmas (I’m saving my pennies now) I’ll be handing down my StrikeMaster bibs and coat to the FW. Why? Because Dean said one morning “Hey, your going to be outside all day…use this Sno Suit.” They are unbelievably warm.

Don’t take me wrong. The StrikeMaster set up is great and I’m sure the Vex and all the other brands are too….but Sno Suit is in a class by itself.

Don’t take my word for it. You try them…and you be the judge.

THanks for all the replies, guys. Dang it. The old rule of you get what you pay for rings true again………gonna cost me again…lol.

I picked up a new AR15 a month ago, so the snosuit will have to wait a bit, as I don’t think the wife will think it is a great idea yet….

I definately agree with everyone here. These Snosuits have a ton of features that you can’t find in other suits. And they are warmer too. Very well thought out when designing these. The features blew me away so to speak when I opened up the box that they came in and saw all the features and the high quality the Snosuit has. I have other brands too but when it comes to features and warnth you can’t beat the Snosuit.
    Thanks, Bill

Hokey doke Stale…bring yours down to Everts tomorrow. I’m scooting out onto the chilly but not frozen surface of Pool 4.

You try the Sno Suit…I’ll try the Mustang.

I’ll bring the catfish gear…9 am??

Hi Briank, I have a better take on your offer. I wear my Mustang Survival Suit and you wear your Sno Suit. Then we both jump into the water for an hour! I hope you see why I am a favorite of Mustang. Sno Suits are great, no doubt, but they won’t keep you safe in water.

Since I’m an active supporter of PFD’s…I can’t argue with that.

I zipped up to the dam this afternoon using the “try before you buy suit” Dean has in his bait shop.

17 degrees outside and a 39 mile per hour wind (40 hp tiller clocks out at 39 by gps).

The only thing that wasn’t fireside warm was my face…and that’s because it wasn’t covered up. (I think I left myself open there)

No sir, Sno Suit doesn’t make any claim to keeping you a float if you go in the drink. I guess there’s trade offs in everything.

But don’t trust me…try before you buy!

I’ll give my two cents on the sno suit. Personally, I love the thing. I’m a wimp when it comes to extreme cold, but the sno suit has actually changed that. It keeps even a cold-weather-wimp like me happy and warm. I used it all last season and was very happy with it. When I first saw it I thought it looked too bulky, but after wearing it I was really surprised at how well it handled. I can do just about anything wearing the sno suit and it doesn’t get in the way. I use it for cold weather open water fishing on the river. I even use it when I’m out scooping the drive. It’s honestly made the extreme cold very tolerable for me. And like Mike said, you don’t need layers of clothers under it either. The best advise I can give is to make sure you get the right size. You want it to fit properly and that may require you to go try a pair on somewhere.

I’ll add my 2 cents as well. The SnoSuit is the BOMB! It’s absolutely the warmest piece of outdoor gear I’ve ever owned, by far. I put 50 miles on my sled last night, -21 actual air temp with windchills below -40. I was warm! And I really like all the smart features in the SnoSuit to keep you comfortable when fishing- it’s the ultimate ice fishing suit!

Nice seeing you around the board Jim!

Give me a call/pm if you ever make it around the area and/or need someone to prefish with!
